APS announced at its board meeting May 11 that its four top people Nicole Carper, Amy Eller, Lisa Smith, and Susan Wells will remain with APS, as well as several kennel techs. This will give Joe Pulcinella the opportunity to hire and train his own senior staff. Joe is moving expeditiously with the transition and this bodes well for the future County run shelter. A refreshing change was his openness in discussing recent disease problems at the shelter and the steps he has taken to combat them. It was stated that the foundations have been completed and the plumbing put in at the new shelter and it is expected to be complete by June 28. That is less than seven weeks from now and the entire project was scheduled to take 20 weeks. It appears that they have a lot of work to do. APS has appointed a new Executive Director to replace Laura Walters. This description of her was on the internet. -- Published by NAMI North Carolina North Carolina's Voice on Mental Illness Volume 10, Number 1, Feb/Mar 2002 ______________________________________________________________________ NAMI North Carolina Hires New Executive Director The Board of Directors of NAMI North Carolina has selected its new executive director, Kay Flaminio.
